Session 6 — Modeling immune escape trajectories in malignancy¶
Series: 2026 SITC Computational IO Series, session 6 of 10 Date: September 15, 2026, 1:00–2:30 p.m. ET (90 min) Moderators: Lillian Kuo, PhD and Altaf Mohammed, PhD — both National Cancer Institute Faculty: Livnat Jerby, PhD — Stanford University Recording: SITC OnDemand after delivery Status: Upcoming
What the session covers¶
Computational modeling of how tumors escape immune control over time — trajectory and cell-state modeling applied to resistance. Jerby's group works on single-cell and spatial transcriptomics with an emphasis on inferring tumor and immune cell states and their interactions from expression data. The dual-NCI moderation suggests a programmatic framing (NCI-relevant resistance and interception priorities) around the science. Inferred from the speakers' fields and affiliations; confirm after delivery.
Why it matters to this corpus¶
- Squarely the single-cell / spatial axis. Direct fit with
aacr-2026/topics/single-cell-spatial-omics/and its landscape. - Trajectory and perturbation modeling is the same technical family as the virtual-cell work — see
aacr-2026/topics/virtual-cells/and PerturbFate. - Immune escape is the mechanism behind checkpoint resistance, which is the clinical thread running through
sitc-2026/trials/— this session is the biology under those readouts.
Open items¶
- [ ] Capture the recording once posted.
- [ ] Confirm the talk title and the datasets/tumor types modeled.
- [ ] Note whether the NCI moderators frame this against a specific program or funding priority — useful context for the interception thread.
