Session 7 — Precision immune oncology¶
Series: 2026 SITC Computational IO Series, session 7 of 10 Date: October 1, 2026, 12:00–1:00 p.m. ET Moderator: Benjamin Vincent, MD — University of North Carolina School of Medicine Faculty: Vinod Balachandran, MD — Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center Recording: SITC OnDemand after delivery Status: Upcoming
What the session covers¶
Precision immuno-oncology — matching immunotherapy to patients on molecular evidence. Balachandran is a surgeon-scientist working on pancreatic cancer immunology and neoantigen-directed therapy, so the talk is likely to be anchored in a hard-to-treat, low-mutational-burden disease where the precision-IO argument is most contested. Inferred from the speaker's field; confirm after delivery.
Why it matters to this corpus¶
- The clinical-translation end of the series. Feeds the SITC 2026
trials/andtools/templates, which are explicitly built to hold both the readout and the assay that produced it. - Pancreatic-specific overlap with
aacr-pancreatic-2026/— worth cross-linking once the disease focus is confirmed. - Neoantigen and vaccine biology connects back to session 5 (immunogen design) and forward to session 9 (TCR–antigen prediction): the same pipeline, at three stages.
- Vincent also moderates session 3, linking early detection to precision treatment.
